When creating these illustrations for a children's book, I tried a heavily rendered approach to the painting and brushwork. There's a fine line between line work and shading, add in color and things start to get complex real fast. With these pieces I was trying to find a balance where the pieces lived in harmony. As the whole thing evolved, some of it works and some of it feels too polished. But that's the tug-o-war of digital art, an infinite amount of possibilities and the challenge lies in how it all works together.
